Gemidiriya Itshed commercial web portal is supporting rural village organizations to earn income for the rural people by providing market information. I live in  kabillagama .However, didn’t know what ,in what quantities we produce as a community in our village. For example ,we did not know that we produce 40000  kg of potatoes a year in oua village .we now know that because of the survey we did for our village web page which is linked to the Gemidiriya  itshed  commercial web portal. we also know now as ,result ,that about  90000 kg jack fruit available for use. we have displayed production data under our village in the itshed web portal and offer information to those who are interested  in purchasing. we can communicate through e-mail details and we plan to use information technology for marketing  our production .
We are connected to Itshed  now , Anyone in the village can have an e-mail account .we can have access to the web portal  and use its facilities, I feel very happy to have my e-mail account and my own page in the itshed. Now I have access to information and I can exchange information. This is a new experience in my life. we can quickly access information  and we can do our own presentations. we can store the required information for future use.
Before gemidiriya my computer knowledge was very poor .I sat in front in of a computer for the first time in January 2008.I am working with 20 computer software now. Now I can work with information .I can use different software such as Flash, premier ect .At the I   got exposed  to computer through the Gemidiriya computer workshop I did not know how to create a web site and I though  it to be a very difficult work. However, now I can create a   new web page. I could to do due to itshed.I have improved my performance with   this exposure . First I thank   Gemidiriya foundation and Itshed web portal for the benefits I received from them.
Itshed program had a flying start  providing information of our village to outsiders .in Badulla district,all ready 18 villages are creating Itshed web page .I think ih we are expand this program in Sri lanka then we can provide great  opportunities for all the 1036 Gemidiriya villages
